Kirk: A Passionate Carpenter
Kirk is originally from Oak Park, IL, the first suburb on the west side of Chicago. He grew up around the corner from Frank lloyd Wright’s home and studio. He toured it frequently as a teenager, enamoured with the beautiful woodwork and bold architecture. His experience growing up in the craftsman mecca of the chicagoland area sowed the foundation of his passion for carpentry.
Kirk attended Reed College in Portland OR, where he received a BA in classics. Reed College proved to be more valuable to Kirk’s career than one would expect. His pursuit of classics, the study of Greek and Roman history, deeply informed his passion for historical architecture and his capacity to understand the language of a beautiful house.
After college, Kirk set off to San Francisco and pursued his career as a carpenter. He worked as a public sculpture fabricator for a time before returning to residential carpentry. He has spent his early career pusing everything from historical renovations to modernist remodels.
Kirk currently works in San Francisco providing the highest finish carpentry to San Francisco and the greater Bay Area.
