A white oak balustrade that I designed, Fabricated, and installed in a lovely Oakland home. The client wanted the balustrade to be the architectural centerpiece of their house, which presented some design challenges. The house itself is a mixed bag of architectural styles- when looking at the facade of the house, one would label it a Spanish revival. After entering, one finds a more complicated mix of classical, craftsman, and modernist influences. So, I attempted to design the piece to match this mixed bag of styles, leaning into the more traditional elements that might be expected from a Bay Area home built 100 years ago.
